Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war and/or time period: World War II (WWII). General description of the collection: The Frank E. Tressler photograph collection includes the personal photos of Colonel Tressler. It basically covers two periods of his career in the Army. He was commissioned in 1922 and there are photos of him and others during his first several years in the Army, until about 1927. The second period covered his service as a Quartermaster Corps training officer between 1942 and 1945. There are no overseas photos and none appear to be from his Pennsylvania National Guard service, which was the preponderance of his service time. Some few photos are of dinners, parties, and award presentations from 1946 to 1952. In the collection are several panoramic photos of scenes in Hawaii sometime between the wars.

Fort Arbuckle was built in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma on April 19, 1851 and was formally designated a fort in June 1851. It was established by the U.S. Army to protect the region's relocated Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes from raids by Kiowa and Comanche Indians. The fort was also visited by wagon trains of Mormons and other emigrants enroute to the California gold fields.
